the old man who read love stories

Luis Sepúlveda

“At day, the man and the jungle. At night, the man is the jungle” A story of a man in a remote river town deep in the Ecuadoran jungle, and his life between nature and the slowly developing town. I read this story in one sitting, as I could not bear to put it down without knowing what happened in the next scene. A quick and short read, this story explores a lot of themes that authors take chapters and chapters to write about in other stories. It is the perfect balance of simple and complex, and it isn't bogged down by emotion -- if that makes sense. I loved it!
